Delhi Metro Reaches Haryana's 3rd Township With Mundka-Bahadurgarh Route
(Dreamstime)

The Delhi Metro’s Green Line was further extended to Haryana on June 24 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the stretch between Mundka and Bahadurgarh. The 11.2-km Metro corridor is fully elevated and has seven stations. Now the entire Inderlok-Bahadurgarh stretch is 26.33-km long taking the Delhi Metro’s complete stretch to 288 km and 208 stations.
However, as the land acquisition was scrapped by the Supreme Court where the new depot was about to come up, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has planned to use the existing depot of the Mundka-Inderlok stretch for maintenance of the trains that would run on the route.
Owing to that, the stretch would see trains arrive at an interval of nearly half an hour. This happens to be the lowest peak-hour frequency in the whole metro network.
This mass-rapid transit is the DMRC's third foray in Haryana, and is an extension of the Inderlok-Mundka Green Line (Line 5). The new Metro route will connect the extended suburb of the national capital with areas such as Rohini, Kashmere Gate, Connaught Place in one interchange.
The planned route is:
Mundka- Mundka Industrial Area- Ghevra- Tikri Kalan- Tikri Border- Modern Industrial Estate- Bahadurgarh Bus Stand- City Park
About the stretch
* The commissioning of the 11-km route from west Delhi will make Bahadurgarh the third Haryana township in the Metro's fold after Gurgaon and Faridabad.
* The stretch will be covered in 45 minutes.
*The corridor, being constructed as part of the Metro's Phase-III, will have a total of seven stations, four in Delhi portion and three in Haryana.
*The alignment of the line will be standard gauge and it will have technical standards similar to the existing Metro corridor upto Mundka.
*According to the DMRC's estimates, around 1.43 lakh people are expected to travel on the line daily.
*The stretch will be the longest straight-line stretch in the history of the Delhi Metro without any bend or twist and turn between Mundka and Bahadurgarh.
